All students are enrolled for the entire year extending from September 8 through May 17. The year ends with our annual student performance held at Lynn City Hall. All students are expected upon registration to attend the entire year including our performance. There are no partial enrollments. Students are responsible to attend all classes. Class tuition must be paid for whether or not attended. No discounts or allowances will be made for vacations or other reasons. Comparable make-up classes are available. Attire You are to dress properly for every class. Hair pulled back and a leotard and tights for tap and jazz. Jazz pants are acceptable for tap and jazz. Shoes will be determined mid-year when costumes are chosen. I would like you to stretch bare foot for better flexibility. For Ballet class your hair should be pulled back to a bun and you should wear A BLACK LEOTARD with PINK TIGHTS NO SKIRTS PLEASE. Your ballet slippers should be pink and split sole. For Tap and Jazz you should wear dancewear of your choice. You should always wear tights. You will be stretching barefoot so convertible, footless or stirrup tights should be worn to Jazz class. You should only wear your shoes with tights, never with socks that will cause them to be over stretched. Shorts and tank tops that are not form fitting do no provide enough coverage for dance class. Any student attending class in this attire will be asked to sit for the class and not participate. Attendance You know that as a member of the intensive program attendance is mandatory. You are of course excused when you are sick. Be sure to call and let us know when you will not be in class due to illness. Excessive absenteeism will not be tolerated. Performance Obligations As a member of the intensive program it is assumed that you will be available for all performances that your class is asked to participate in i.e. recital, rehearsals, competitions, and other engagements. Exceptions will be made in extreme cases only and we are to be notified in ample time if you will not be able to attend an assigned performance. You should expect to have an extended year through the end of June, which will include a 9th tuition payment. Failure to adhere to an agreed commitment of performance may result in dismissal of the intensive program. Conventions An important part of your dance education is the exposure to many different teachers and styles of dance. Dance conventions offer very important learning tool. As a member of the Company program we require you to attend WCDE in Boston during the last weekend of February vacation. If JUMP comes to our area next year that will also be a required convention for our Company Members. Intensive students may choose one of those conventions to attend to fill their requirement
Classroom Etiquette You are all hard workers and your teachers really appreciate how well you take class. Keep up the good work. Stay focused, do your best and keep loving it. Pay close attention to the finer details that make your dancing exciting. You are going to have a great year. As always with a new registration period you can reevaluate whether or not intensive program is for you. Once you register for intensive program you are expected to adhere to all of its expectations. If you cannot commit to this program at this time call the studio and you will be pointed into the direction of a recreational class that best suits your needs.
